Cricket Carnival Success

VANUATU Cricket organized a successful half day cricket carnival recently for young cricket enthusiasts around Port Vila and nearby communities around Efate.

The aim of this cricket carnival was to allow young cricketers and potential cricketers to participate in a day of fun cricket to help boost their confidence in cricket as well as providing them with the opportunity to practice and showcase their cricket skills and talents, a spokesman said.

The cricket carnival attracted a remarkable turnout of 92 participants, 34 of whom were girls and 53 were boys.

“Days of preparation and devotion from the Vanuatu Cricket development officers and volunteers have contributed to the smooth running and success of this cricket carnival which included different stations of fun cricket games and activities,” said the spokesman.

“All the cricket games taught basic cricket skills and concepts which are important to the development of cricket in Port Vila and Vanuatu as a whole.

“Giveaways such as plastic cricket bats and balls were also given to participants whose performances were outstanding on the day.”
