IF you are looking for the ideal place to hold your Christmas or end of year party outdoors with a great beach then the Havannah Beach and Boat Club is the answer.
Located about 30 minutes’ drive from Vila, this beachfront property has everything you need for the perfect party day out.
Of course it is available all year round, so if you just want a day out with your family and friends, put the Havannah Beach and Boat Club on your list for a regular visit on Efate.
But at this time of year when companies, government departments and even extended family groups are searching for the ideal venue, this Havannah location comes into its own and there is nothing else like it on Efate or probably the entire nation.
If you are trying to get an idea of size, owner Jonathan Delaney recalled how they recently held a significant wedding for a senior government official that included a guest list of 700 people.
“In fact, with the all the children present it was probably a greater number than 700,” he said.
“Looking over the area where the wedding was held, there was still space.’’
He said the Beach and Boat Club had previously held Christmas and end-of-year functions for big corporations where the numbers exceeded 300 with ease.
When you first arrive at the beach club and drive from the road to the beach, the first thing that strikes you is the enormous space. There is room here for almost any and every sport imaginable. Even a full scale football match would be possible and there is a volleyball court already in situ.
The second striking feature is the number of large trees and the huge amount of shade they offer everyone who spends time there.
Jonathan said this was a deliberate plan when they cleared the area some years ago.
“We were conscious of the heat at Havannah and made sure we did not remove too many trees, so there is no reason anyone needs to be stuck in the burning sun for any longer than they choose,” he said.
Thirdly, once you leave your vehicle near the shoreline, you find yourself gazing at a superb sandy beach and pristine waters that are very child safe.
Jonathan is quite rightly proud of his beach and said it must rate among the best on Efate.
Not far off the beach is a reef ideal for snorkeling, with loads of bommies, and even diving is worthwhile from the beach if you are equipped. This is truly a place where you can spend hours in the water without even noticing the time.
Back on shore, when you check out the facilities and amenities, the beach club gains even more attraction. There are clean toilet blocks, day fares undercover from the relentless sun where you can sit, eat, drink and relax and use the gas BBQs to cook your meals if you have not brought your own prepared delights. And there is also water on tap.
Jonathan said food can also be supplied for an extra cost if it is pre-ordered and this is mainly island food with a modern twist – prepared by Mary Avock and her team, who are passionate about the real healthy values of Ni Vanuatu cuisine.
He said camping is permitted on the property and there are fares established for overnight stays as well, some with private toilets. For all occasions prices vary according to numbers.
If you wish to go boating there is boat launch for hire to give boaties the chance to experience the mighty harbour first hand.
With all the activities available, Jonathan explained that the greater the number, the more the individual prices drops.
So whether it is Xmas, end of year, New Year, birthdays, weddings, engagements, christenings or just a day at a great beach then the Havannah Beach and Boat Club is the number one destination.
