TVL sponsors Vanuatu Hockey World Series

Hockey_2TELECOM Vanuatu Limited (TVL) has handed over a cheque for VT 75,000 to the Vanuatu Hockey Federation in support for the upcoming FIH World Series Round 1 event that will take place in Vanuatu in August.

TVL Chief Marketing Officer, Palash Bhowmik said it was an honor for TVL to be sponsoring such an event.

“TVL is here to support the community and the youth and we acknowledged the opportunity given us to be able to support our youth in hockey development-it’s a proud moment for us,” he said.

“We want to wish team Vanuatu all the best in the World Series.”

VHF President Jack Manuel Chilia thanked TVL on behalf of the Hockey Federation for the donation.

“We would like to thank TVL for the generous support and it (TVL) is one of our first sponsors towards this event that Vanuatu is going to host for the first time,” he said.

Hockey Development Officer, Todd Kitto said that the World Series Round 1 will have four countries participating in the tournament.

“The countries are Fiji, Tonga, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu and the event will feature seniors and Vanuatu’s Under 18,” he said.

“Since Vanuatu is hosting the event, we see it as an opportunity for our Under 18 to take part as preparation towards their participation in the Youth Olympic in October in Argentina, though it’s a senior’s competition.”

Kitto said there will be 10 teams of both men and women taking part in the event.

“Points in the tournament will be taken to match up with the world ranking points for each of the teams and we are looking forward and inviting everyone to come down to Wan Smol Bag to watch the tournament,” he said.
