THE MSG Sports section has made its first attempt at holding consultation with the Vanuatu Netball Association (VNA) President Kathie Simons and board member responsible for game development, Eileen Nganga.
The consultation under the Arts, Culture, Sports & Social Program was convened following a decision made during the 6th MSG Sports Council meeting held in Kimbe, New West Britain, Papua New Guinea in September last year directing the MSG Secretariat to support the establishment of an MSG Netball Tournament Challenge.
During the consultation last week at the MSG Secretariat in Port Vila the Vanuatu Netball Association confirmed their strong support to the proposal and is looking forward to the Melanesian Netball Challenge Tournament to happen soon.
Meanwhile the Director General of the MSG Secretariat, Ambassador Amena Yauvoli, while congratulating the Vanuatu Netball Association for their support alluded that He said that sports is a tool for development within our MSG Member Countries.
Ambassador Yauvoli said the core purpose of this tournament is to strengthen Melanesian women and girls to come together, not to only participate in netball but to share ideas, learn from each other, exchange cultural ideas and most importantly to empower our Melanesian woman and girls, make them feel important and bring them out of the Melanesian belief of male dominated society.
The MSG Sports division will continue consultations with the rest of the National Netball Federations and Associations in all MSG Member countries to solidify the support for the proposed MSG Netball Tournament Challenge.
